The demon household staff at the Haunted House of the Dead are not just there to entertain you, they’re also there to help you become happier.
That’s the premise behind the cult film, which is based on the popular Japanese horror manga.
While most of the film’s plot revolves around a ghost housekeeper named Shoko (voiced by Tatsuya Okamoto), the film also features a host of other spirits that inhabit the house.
The housekeepers are not your typical ghosts, but rather demons.
It is implied that Shoko has a connection to the demon gods, and that she has access to a supernatural power that she can use to control the souls of others.
The story follows the housekeeper as she tries to navigate her way through a complicated and confusing world.
The film stars a variety of actors, including Yoshihiro Miyazaki (The Tale of Princess Kaguya, The Castle of Cagliostro), Takahiro Kondo (Kissing SaGa), Tomokazu Sugita (Hiroshima, Death Note), and Toshio Suzuki (Akira).
There’s also an original score by Tetsuya Kakihara.
There’s even a character named Shikari who seems to be based on Shoko.
You can watch the trailer below.
The ghost housekeepers work for the owner of the haunted house, the proprietor of the place, and the spirits that live inside it.
While the ghosts can’t be harmed, they have their own powers, and you’ll have to trust them to keep you safe.
In this new film, there’s also a supernatural creature called the Demon King.
The Demon King is the spirit of a man who was killed by a demon, and he’s been haunting the Haunted house ever since.
In the spirit world, the Demon king can possess anyone who gets near him, including humans, spirits, and demons.
While this is not an easy job, the housekeepers and the Demon kings have a few tricks up their sleeves to help them keep you happy and at ease.
